Basic Land Navigation and Orientation Game

Course Overview

In the era of GPS navigation, actual Land Navigation skills are becoming a thing of the past, but what do you do when those things don’t work?  It doesn’t take much for the cellular network to be overloaded, When you can’t place a call you have very limited data use as well.  What about the GPS?  Satellites overhead keeping us within a few feet of our actual location at all times, but what if your device loses power?  What if it breaks?

For this reason, we decided to organise basic Land Navigation course for Families,  this Level 1 course teaches how to navigate on unfamiliar territory using only a compass, the course is so interesting and also fun, the course including the orientation game where the families need to to use the compass to find the waypoints, its just outstanding, they need to work as a team that developed good teamwork and also improving link and connection with each other

List of needs

Equipment that you need to have with you 

​

• Robust walking boots/shoes or similar, preferably with ankle support

• Trousers - outdoor/active (lightweight)

• T-shirt

• Jacket

• Hat or cap

• Gloves - 1 x thin (active)

• Waterproof clothes

• Backpack

• Casual clothes (spares, including footwear for once the course has ended)

• Tick /Insect repellent (obligatory)

PLEASE NOTE: All of the clothing and equipment that you bring must be appropriate to the environment and the time of year. keep in mind that this is just a guide and you may not need the whole kit
