PERSONAL SAFETY AND DEFENSE
Detect, Assess, De-escalate, Defend
Most people go through their daily lives without a framework for personal safety. They react to situations instead of reading them. They escalate when they could de-escalate. And when things turn physical, they have no foundation to fall back on.
This 5-hour course changes that. In one day you build a practical personal safety system — how to read your environment, assess threats before they develop, communicate your way out of dangerous situations, and defend yourself physically when there is no other option.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Part 1 — Personal Safety Protocols (3 hours)
Situational Awareness — How to read your environment in real time. Recognising patterns, identifying potential threats early, and staying ahead of developing situations.
Threat Assessment — How to evaluate a situation and the people in it. Understanding intent, capability, and when a situation requires action.
De-escalation — Verbal and non-verbal techniques to reduce tension and resolve threatening situations without physical confrontation.
Part 2 — Self-Defense (2 hours)
Strikes — Fundamental offensive and defensive striking techniques for real situations.
Grabs, Chokes and Holds — How to recognise, react to, and escape the most common physical attacks.
HOW IT WORKS
The course runs in two parts. The first part is instructor-led — theory, real-world scenarios, and group engagement. You work through awareness and assessment frameworks and practice de-escalation in simulated situations. The second part moves to physical training — you apply self-defense techniques hands-on on the mat.
